Funding Opportunities

Our economic times are tough for all of us - for those in the nonprofit sector and for all our friends in businesses and government.  People are looking for inexpensive ways to both enjoy life and support the causes they believe in.

We at HandsOn Jacksonville are looking for ways for our agency friends to raise money by mobilizing their volunteer supporters.  HOJ now offers several ways you and your volunteers can raise funds: Fazzini's Coffee and The Human Race (formerly The Caring and Sharing Hope Walk/Run).  We are offering these opportunities to all agencies, whether you are HOJ member agencies or not.

Additional benefits are available to HOJ members for The Human Race and Fazzini's Coffee.  Member agencies that participate in The Human Race may request booth space at the race while agency members utilizing Fazzini's Coffee and Tea get 30% return instead of 20% for other agencies.  If you are not a current HOJ agency member and would like to become a member, please click HERE.  Though times are tough, our membership dues are very cost effective and can easily return your investment many times over.

The Human Race

Spring 2010

HandsOn Jacksonville, RITA Foundation and 1st Place Sports sponsor The Human Race as a fun opportunity  for nonprofits and school groups to raise money for their various community programs.  Offered twice a year, the date for the next walk/run is May 8th at the Freedom Commerce Center on Baymeadows Road.. Participants can choose to walk/run in the 5K at 8:00 am or the 1M at 9:00 am.

Individual Opportunity

Any individual can walk/run in The Human Race.  In addition, you can raise money for the organization of your choice by contacting that organization and becoming one of their team members. For more information on running or walking in the race, entry forms and registration online, click 1st Place Sports.

Nonprofit and School Group Opportunity

Nonprofits and school groups are invited to participate and raise money for your organization by mobilizing your volunteers.  The pledges raised go directly to your organization.  Neither the nonprofits nor the school groups have any financial responsibility for the cost of the event.  Any organization that is interested in participating must complete the Agency Participation Form and attend a one hour, free orientation to obtain information for your campaign.  The only other responsibilities are to get the most people registered to walk/run in the race and raise money for your program.

Orientations for The Human Race Spring 2010 will be held January 12th, 14th, and 26th; February 9th and 23rd; and March 9th.  Sign-up for any orientation is required using the Agency Orientation Request Form.

HandsOn Jacksonville member agencies that choose to participate in The Human Race may enjoy an additional benefit.  You may request to have booth space at the race for your agency on a space available basis.  Normally, the fee for booth space is $100. The Agency Booth Space Request Form has more information which you will want to read if interested in this benefit.

Corporate Opportunity

Do you have a local organization that you support?  How would you like to surprise them with a special gift from your employees?  The Human Race can offer you that opportunity.  No Company donation is needed, only employee involvement.

Corporations select a team captain who organizes your team.  The team captain notifies the organization you wish to support and receives the necessary guidelines and forms to use.  When you have completed your campaign, you get to present your moneys raised directly to that organization.  Please note, some agencies may not already be familiar with this opportunity so simply direct them to the information on this page.  You will be introducing them to this exciting, financial resource for their programs.
